The
Rightness and Wrongness of Behavior Analysis: An Updated Review
In 1996 I
responded to Saul Axelrod's paper entitled "What's Wrong With Behavior
Analysis?" In my response, I pointed out a mistaken assumption that
behavior analysts are guided solely by the reinforcement construct. In
my current presentation I will argue that our guiding constructs
continue to broaden as behavior analysts consider phenomena such as
setting events, adventitious learning, and mindfulness. While our
theoretical perspectives have become more complex, our methodological
focus on the functional analysis of behavior remains intact
